The first days of our demomission

We start at 8:00  with a daily briefing to discuss the actions of the day and define who goes to Mount Etna. Immediately afterwards we get into the shuttles, the tour starts. A small group stays at the hotel and sets up the infrastructure, i.e. the antenna on the rooftop and the control room.
The drive to the site is about an hour. Due to a special permit, three four-wheel drive vehicles are allowed to go to the camp, the other buses park at the valley station. While it is sunny and hot in Catania, a cold wind blows on Mount Etna, clouds move up in the afternoon and we often have a temperature of only 8°.

The first few days are filled with first placing and aligning the containers, unloading the equipment and setting up the infrastructure in the camp.
We work until about 18:00, then we have to store some equipment - including of course the robots - back in the containers and then drive back to Catania. With every meter we lose in height, we gain outside temperature and finally arrive at the hotel around 19:30.
