Helmholtz-Future Topic Project ARCHES

The aim of the Helmholtz Future Project ARCHES is the development of heterogeneous, autonomous and interconnected robotic systems in a consortium of the Helmholtz Centers DLR, AWI, GEOMAR and KIT from 2018 to 2020. And not only the robots are heterogeneous, the future fields of application span from the environmental monitoring of the oceans over technical crisis intervention to the exploration of the solar system.

At the beginning, the duration of the project was planned for the end of 2020. However, the Space demonstration missions planned for summer 2020 had to be postponed due to the corona pandemic. The deep-sea demo mission took place in a reduced version, but with great success. The demo mission Space, which was postponed to 2021, had to be postponed again due to the pandemic. A cost-neutral extension of the project now enables us to let the demo mission take place from June 13th to July 9th, 2022.

We are very much looking forward to this exciting analogue mission with our partners. In the period from 28.06.-01.07. we will have a hybrid symposium, a physical event in Catania and on a digital platform.
